Fierce NPO statement

Fierce has been a recipient of a three year grant from the new Arts Council England (ACE) National Portfolio funding system. Fierce will receive £100 000 in 2012 – 2013, £136,300 in 2013 – 2014 and £136,300 in 2014 – 2015. Although on paper an ‘uplift’ this represents the inclusion of historic GFA income and the continuation of our emerging artist development scheme, Platinum which was previously partly funded by a separate GFA application.

This funding will enable Fierce to continue produce Fierce Festival and maintain and develop our emerging artists training programme for West Midlands based artists. Fierce is pleased to receive the grant award; while remaining conscious that trusted and valued colleagues didn’t receive funding.

Nonetheless we support ACE and its current aims to ‘get great art to everyone by championing, developing and investing in artistic experiences that enrich people’s lives’. We absolutely support ACE’s values and are concerned by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s suggestion to further cut ACE’s administrative costs by 50%.

Fierce thrives through dynamic relationships with partners and collaborators and does not think of itself as sealed or closed off entity. We would like to point you to some notable statements, articles and statistics made by Live Art Uk, We Are Eastside, Forest Fringe.
