Fierce was invited to attend ‘Digital Divide?’ an event hosted by Dancexchange as part of their International Dance Festival Programme. The debate focussed on the exploration of digital arts in live performance. There were some interesting presentations from projects and organisations who play with the relationship between technology and live performance. Including Albino Mosquito, Coney HQ and Ars Electronica Futurelab.
A debate followed where members of the arts and performance industry were able to put forward questions and comments to the panel. These ranged from ‘what will the digital world look like in 15 years’ to ‘how do artists , slightly fearful of the pace of development in technology, access and establish collaboration?’.
It was an exciting and thought provoking meeting of two worlds culminating in performances from the Aakash Odedra company who had worked with Ars Electronica to create a new piece utilising digital technology on stage.
