Fierce Festival is an international festival of contemporary performance based in Birmingham, UK. The forthcoming edition runs from 2 – 12 October 2014. Fierce provides a platform for cutting edge, interdisciplinary performance; participatory practice and live art in unusual locations.

About Fierce
Fierce is a lean, dynamic arts organisation which produces a 10-day festival and development programmes for live artists living and working in the West Midlands. Fierce commissions and co-produces work with national and international partners. Fierce has developed a committed, diverse young audience. We are a National Portfolio Organisation with Arts Council England (2012 – 2015) and have maintained NPO status (2015 – 2018). Fierce Festival is a registered charity.
Fierce was founded by Mark Ball in 1998. Since 2009, as Joint Artistic Directors, Laura McDermott & Harun Morrison have reignited the festival, with the guidance and long serving chairmanship of Alan Rivett, director of Warwick Arts Centre.

Fierce now seeks a new chair of the board as well as additional trustees.
We are looking for motivated, dynamic people who support the aims of the organisation and who can give commitment and time to help us grow. We like to work with people who have strategic vision and strong leadership skills who will be willing to advocate for our work and increase its impact (with those applying for position of chair expected to have previous governance experience).
In order to balance the skills mix of the board we are keen to hear from artists, business entrepreneurs in the private sector, individuals with experience of working at a senior level in fundraising (especially individual giving), PR (especially broadcast media), digital innovation.
Fierce Festival holds four Board meetings a year and an away day, usually in Birmingham. Trustees are also involved in the work of the organisation outside of board meetings, for example in subcommittees or other project support. The role of Trustee is unpaid. We welcome applications from those across the UK, provided they can commit the time to travelling to meetings, for which travel expenses would be paid. We are actively seeking to improve the diversity of the board. As such, we would welcome applications from people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
