Artists-in-Residence

Alina Arshi and Kairaan Kika plan to move through the festival as an evolving, collaborative unit, using drawing and writing as trace-leaving tools to observe and reflect on live performance. Alina’s work engages the body as a tool for the invention and questioning of a vocabulary of differences in territories as social as they might be introspective, while Kairaan’s practice views performance through a shifting, lens-based perspective, attending to framing between what is seen, suggested, and projected in filmed performances. Across six days, they will attend the festival together, dedicating time to dialogue, note-taking, and visual recording. The materials gathered will then be shaped into a form of archive—either written or performed—capturing and extending the otherwise ephemeral experience of the festival.
