Fierce Festival and Stoke Newington International Airport are currently curating Live Art Speed Date on Saturday 25 September at Wednesbury Town Hall – part of the forthcoming Interrobang weekender.
We are still looking for artists (especially those based in the West Midlands) to create short, intimate encounters for the event.
Here’s how it works:
20 artists are invited to each create a repeatable four-minute long private encounter: The Date. The date is performed in a private booth, or at a table, or in a polling booth or some other nook or cranny of the Town Hall.
The audience circulate through a series of encounters, guided by their Date Card. The atmosphere buzzes as the audience moves between the private and public spaces, exchanging notes on their experiences and being entertained by DJs, installations and the incredible Auto-Dates (do-it yourself, instructed encounters).
Here’s what some of our favourite people have said about Live Art Speed Date:
“Live Art Speed Date crystallises a movement in contemporary British performance – a free-wheeling, wide ranging bashing down of boundaries between forms and practices, a celebration of us all as both artists and audience.” Tim Crouch
“Live Art Speed Date offers a bite sized menu of intimate and memorable experiences. It’s a great way to introduce yourself to engaging artists and practice.” Mark Ball
